Arezou, 34, and Vahid, 37, from Milton Keynes, welcome their miracle daughter, Janan, into the world. Arezou shares their story:

“Passionate about the environment, we moved to the UK from Iran in 2017, so Vahid could run an innovative engineering company that helps businesses transition to a zero-carbon footprint. I also work for another green energy company.

“Our move was a fresh start for us, as for the previous two years, we had been trying for a baby, but had not been successful. We had seen the top Gynaecologists in Iran and both undergone tests, but no reason for our infertility was ever found. I had experienced a cyst on my right ovary a number of year’s earlier, but we were reassured that this wasn’t to blame and hadn’t caused any problems.

We chose to be treated at Oxford Fertility’s satellite clinic at the Whaddon Medical Centre in Milton Keynes.

“It was hard for us emotionally. We were healthy and our fertility tests showed no issues. So each month discovering we had been unsuccessful was so tough.

“After moving to Milton Keynes and registering with our GP, we shared our medical history and concerns with our doctor. They listened and referred us to our local fertility clinic. Again, we underwent tests, which couldn’t pin-point why we weren’t able to conceive. I was given medicine to see if this would first help but after two different types and no success, we were referred for IVF.

“We chose to be treated at Oxford Fertility’s satellite clinic at the Whaddon Medical Centre in Milton Keynes. This would enable us to be treated by the team at Oxford Fertility, but undergo most of our appointments close to home, which would help us juggle treatment with work commitments.

The team at the clinic were brilliant, everything was perfect.

“The team at the clinic were brilliant, everything was perfect. They were there for us through everything – the fourteen days of injections, egg collection and embryo transfer. They were friendly, helpful, and understood both our physical and emotional needs. They definitely made the IVF profess easier. We couldn’t believe it when it worked first time, it felt like a miracle when we discovered I was pregnant.

Our daughter Janan was born in June this year and we feel so blessed. She is full of energy, is healthy and is absolutely gorgeous!

“We can’t thank Oxford Fertility enough. We would encourage anyone who is uncertain about their fertility to reach out for help. You may be fit and healthy, but you may need treatment to help conceive. Like us, a third of people who undergo IVF have ‘unexplained infertility’. After years of trying with no success, we are truly thankful we took the steps to receive help and now have our baby Janan.”
